Ron and Valerie's Success Story

Ron, Valerie, and Valerie痴 son, Billy, came to the shelter in November. They had moved back to Fremont from Sioux City, IA where they had been staying with family. Previous to living in Sioux City, Ron and Valerie rented an apartment in Fremont. After a family emergency, Randy and Valerie left everything and moved to Sioux City to be closer with Valerie痴 family and help out. After living in Sioux City for several months, Valerie痴 family asked them to leave and they came back to Fremont with nothing. While at the shelter, Valerie was able to obtain a part-time job at Casey痴 General Store. Valerie is a hard worker and earned many compliments from her employer. Valerie was offered more and more hours at Caseys and was being trained for several different areas in the gas station. Valerie and Ron always participated in the savings program and followed the rules of Care Corps diligently. Along with working, Valerie earned certificated in three of our life skills classes, including Family and Food, Rentwise, and Parenting. Ron and Valerie also had many successes in regards to parenting Billy while at Care Corps. They accepted the help and benefited from the Love and Logic Parenting classes. They utilized the techniques and everyone could tell they were much more confident with handling Brandon痴 behaviors when they left. At the beginning of February, Ron and Valerie had saved enough money to be able to move out into an apartment.
